Hi, I’m Kim R. Bloom, the Owner of Waivasir and founder of Posh Poverty. Thank you for taking the time to visit my store and learn more about the heart behind the brand.
Posh Poverty is more than a brand—it’s my way of honoring the values that have shaped me and the incredible people who inspired me to dream big.
Growing up in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas, I was raised by strong, resilient women. My grandmother, who worked tirelessly while raising 11 kids, and my mother, who balanced motherhood and a 39-year career in the D.C. federal government, taught me the importance of perseverance, creativity, and kindness. They showed me how to rise above challenges, face life head-on, and still find joy in giving back to others.
My mother was my biggest influence in becoming an entrepreneur. She was not only a dedicated community volunteer but also a talented wedding planner and a queen of creative side hustles like yard sales. When she passed away suddenly in November 2020, it left a hole in my heart. But it also deepened my resolve to make her proud. Fulfilling her wish of securing military markers for her brother and father, both Army veterans, gave me a sense of fulfillment I will carry forever.
As a single mother of a high school senior, I know firsthand the financial struggles of building a legacy. But I also believe in the power of education, determination, and creativity to change lives. My middle and high school basketball coaches believed in me, and their encouragement helped me become the first in my family to earn a college degree. Now, I pass that belief in the transformative power of education and hard work to my daughter, who dreams of becoming an orthodontist and owning her own practice one day.
At Posh Poverty, I hope to uplift and inspire my customers through meaningful, creative, and custom-designed eco-friendly products. Our mantra, “Be the Head. Be the Backbone. Be the Legacy,” embodies everything I want to share with the world. I want you to feel empowered, inspired, stylish, and purposeful when you shop with us.
I also believe in giving back. As the business grows, I hope to support causes close to my heart, like helping families of veterans who can’t afford the VA’s uncovered costs to ensure their loved ones’ final wishes are honored. I also want to connect with others through a blog or podcast, sharing the lessons I’ve learned about resilience, kindness, and chasing dreams.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’re here to shop or just explore, I hope you leave feeling a little more inspired to be the best version of yourself. After all, the way we treat people is what leaves a lasting legacy.
Warmly,Kim R. Bloom Founder, Posh Poverty, A Waivasir Brand
